Bonded Dacron Fiber
Bonded Dacron Fiber is the most common type of cushion fill we see in seasonal exterior cushions.
Bonded Dacron fiber fill used to fill outdoor cushions is also by far the most cost effective product for filling exterior cushions.
Bonded Dacron Fiber fill cushion is generally comprised of multiple layers of 1.2 oz or greater bonded Dacron polyester fiber.
This will make a suitable outdoor porch lawn or boat cushion, provided enough layers are used in the cushion so that after the Dacron cushion core begins to get compressed and used it retains its comfort and esthetics.
If a existing Dacron fiber outdoor cushion is still in good shape but could use a little fluffing up (so to speak), and provided the cushion core is still clean, we can add a layers of 1.2 oz. Dacron to build the loft of the seat or back cushions.
Dacron fiber used as a seat cushion filler does not give the most firm support considering all your lawn cushion options.
Interior Furniture Foam
Furniture foam is often used in outdoor cushions because it is generally considered to be the most comfortable foam for seat cushion applications. I only recommend using furniture foam for your outdoor cushions if they are in a covered area or not directly exposed to the sun or precipitation.
The reason for this is because furniture foam cushions will absorb and hold water like a sponge, and then you will have a very wet bottom when you sit on the seat cushion.
When interior furniture foam cushions are exposed to the ultraviolet they tend to break down faster.
When exposed to moisture and high humidity interior foam cushions can also get mold and mildew which there is no way to remove.
Dry-Fast Foam
